TCPA is a white crystalline powder. Its molecular formula is C₈Cl₄O₃, and its molecular weight is 285.89 g/mol. It melts at 254-256°C, with purity no less than 99.5% and moisture content below 0.1%. When added to polyester resin, it works as both a monomer and a modifier. It makes the resin more flame-retardant and stable at high temperatures, and also reduces the risk of combustion.
